Metropolitan School undergraduate Matthew Morris has been selected as a recipient of a prestigious $3500 scholarship for adult learners from the Alpha Sigma Lambda honorary society for nontraditional students.
Matthew was selected from adult students around the nation in a competition that evaluated applicants’ scholarship, leadership, personal character and financial need.
A disabled veteran, Matthew has a 4.0 cumulative GPA and is an undergraduate in the Metropolitan School’s Bachelor of Arts in Human Services Administration degree program.
“I am very humbled and honored to receive this recognition,” Matthew said upon learning of his selection. “It means a great deal to me individually, and even more to me to accept this award as a representative of Catholic University. Thank you to all of the staff, faculty, and my fellow students.”
“All of us in the Metropolitan School are proud of Matthew for receiving this honor,” said Dean Vincent Kiernan. “Matthew is a servant leader, doing all that he can to help others in the midst of his own life challenges. This scholarship recognizes his wonderful accomplishments and will give him a major financial helping hand toward finishing his bachelor's degree.”
