Despite the heat of a D.C. July afternoon, dozens of people congregated on the lawn of the Pryzbala Center on Saturday, July 1, for the Metropolitan School’s first Independence Weekend Barbecue.
“What a marvelous way for us to celebrate our nation’s history while renewing relationships among friends and creating new relationships,” said Vincent Kiernan, dean of the school.
The university’s food-service department cooked hamburgers and hot dogs and served potato salad and dessert. Many participants also brought goodies to share. Children were welcome, and some braved the heat to play lawn games set up by Carlyle Abate, the Metropolitan School’s student worker.
The event attracted current students, incoming students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the school.
