The Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity program provides adult students with a strong, practical understanding of cybersecurity, combined with experiential training and a foundation in the liberal arts. The program is designed for adult learners who want to move into the IT field and gain tangible experience while earning their degree. Students may pursue the program part-time or full-time, continuing SPS’s tradition of evening and online offerings for working professionals.
The BS in Cybersecurity is part of an integrated initiative that includes an undergraduate certificate, the BS program, a Master of Science in Cybersecurity, and a Cyber Warfare Range in Gowan Hall.
The BS in Cybersecurity requires 120 credit hours: 57 in the liberal arts core, 36 in IT and cybersecurity, and 27 elective credits. Core courses align with the existing liberal arts curriculum of the School of Professional Studies. The major includes six general IT courses and six cybersecurity-specific courses: Intro to Cybersecurity, Network Security Concepts, Cyber Ethics, Laws, and Auditing, Cyber Defense, Cloud Security, and Ethical Hacking. The last three are highly experiential, using the Cyber Warfare Range.
By combining industry-specific training with the liberal arts foundation, the program develops critical thinking, writing proficiency, cultural competence, and ethical reasoning while also preparing students with IT and cybersecurity expertise.
Graduates will leave with hands-on experience and readiness to enter the field.
