Dr. David Long joined the School of Professional Studies at The Catholic University of America as its dean on June 1, 2024. He is also Adjunct Assistant Professor in the School of Canon Law and Director of the Institute for Policy Research and Catholic Studies. Previously he served in several capacities at the University in both the Office of Graduate Studies and the Office of the Provost, most recently as Vice Provost for Academic Operations and Strategic Planning.
 
Dr. Long earned his doctoral degree in canon law at The Catholic University of America, defending his dissertation titled John Henry Newman, Doctrinal Development, and the Canonical Status of the Theologian in the Church in May 2022. Prior to his doctoral studies in canon law, he earned a Master of Philosophy degree in systematic theology from the School of Theology and Religious Studies at Catholic University, completed graduate degrees in theological ethics (Master of Arts in Theology and Licentiate in Sacred Theology) and canon law (Licentiate in Canon Law) at the Catholic University of Louvain in Leuven, Belgium, and is a 1997 graduate of Georgetown University, double majoring in history and American government.
 
Dr. Long has works published in Dicionário de Espiritualidade e Mística, The Catholic Historical Review, The Heythrop Journal, Ecclesiology, and Newman Studies Journal, and has given presentations on Saint John Henry Newman and Saint Augustine of Hippo at various academic conferences. His newest book, Newman, Canon Law, and Development: Quarrying Granite Rocks with Razors, will be released by The Catholic University of America Press in January 2025.

Twila Lindsay

Dr. Twila Lindsay joined the School of Professional studies in October 2018. Prior to joining The Catholic University of America, she served as a Campus Dean at Strayer University for several campuses in the DMV. In addition, she served as a Research Psychologist for the Department of Transportation and CEO of a Residential Treatment Facility for Youth. Dr. Lindsay was an adjunct instructor at Montgomery College, the University of the District of Columbia, and Strayer University, where she taught several courses in the field of Psychology. Dr. Lindsay holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of the District of Columbia and both a Master of Science and Ph.D. in Psychology, with a concentration in Human Development, from Howard University.

Anthony Boehm

Anthony (Tony) Boehm began working for Catholic University in December 2010. As Assistant Dean for Strategic Initiatives for the School of Professional Studies, Anthony is responsible for program management, curriculum management, and general administration for the school. Before moving to his current position, Anthony worked as a student advisor and program coordinator in the School of Professional Studies for eight years. Anthony received the 2018 Alexander Charters Emerging Professional Continuing Educator Award presented by the University Professional and Continuing Education Association’s Mid-Atlantic Region. Before his work at Catholic University, Anthony created and launched a Volunteer and Student Engagement Center at Carroll University in Wisconsin. 

LaShay Boyd

LaShay Boyd is the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Communications for the School of Professional Studies. Prior to joining Catholic University, LaShay began a career in education in 2005 as an Education Consultant for Sylvan Learning Center. She continued her career at an education technology company, 2U Inc., for 4 years, supporting the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education by training new staff on programs and facilitating virtual marketing events. LaShay’s passion for education continued as a Program Director for Baltimore County Public Schools and classroom teacher for the Baltimore City Public Schools district. LaShay holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Goucher College and a Bachelor of Science concentrating in Education and Psychology.

Emily Magenheimer

Emily is the Assistant Dean of Summer Programs and Continuing Education at the School of Professional Studies. Prior to joining the SPS team, Emily was the Student Engagement Specialist at the Rome School of Music, Drama, and Art. Emily is developing summer programming for our current students, visiting students, and high schoolers while strengthening our current successful programs across the university.  She has worked extensively in non-profit arts management and programming including Levine Music, The Washington Ballet, and Atlas Performing Arts Center. Emily trained extensively at the Community Arts Education Leadership Institute (provided by the National Guild for Community Arts Education) on leadership development, cross-cultural competency, and social equity. 

Prior to her years as a senior arts administrator and event planning specialist, she was a musical theatre and opera performer. She is a classically trained soprano and member of the Actor’s Equity Association and spent many years in New York and on tour.  Emily holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is a native Washingtonian, residing in D.C. with her husband, two kids, and their dog.

Chad Smith

Chad Smith joined the School of Professional Studies in October 2017.   He has been a licensed and practicing attorney in the South Florida area since 2009.  Mr. Smith earned a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Florida and a J.D. from Nova Southeastern University.  Previously, he was adjunct faculty at Nova Southeastern University and Brown Mackie College – Miami.  Over the last 16 years, Mr. Smith has taught several courses in the areas of Paralegal Studies, Criminal Justice, and General Education.  As the Director of Legal Programs, Mr. Smith is working to establish the Paralegal Program as a mainstay at the Catholic University and helping to provide students with support and guidance to further their academic and legal careers.

Originally from northern New Jersey, Shannen Gora joined the School of Professional Studies in June 2019. She enjoys her role as the Graduate Academic Advisor, getting to know students and assisting them in their pursuit of higher education and advanced degrees. Shannen graduated from Catholic University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics. While pursuing her BA, she interned at numerous institutions around DC and completed a Parliamentary internship at the House of Commons in London. Following graduation, she joined the Democratic Party of Wisconsin as a field organizer for the 2018 midterm elections. She is currently working toward an MA in Congressional and Presidential studies from Catholic University. ”

Tristan Fontaine joined the School of Professional Studies at The Catholic University of America in 2022, as the school's Business Manager. As the business manager, Tristan supports faculty, students, and staff with course scheduling, commencement, and formal academic events such as Alpha Sigma Lambda, and professional networking events.
Tristan plays a pivotal role in managing the school budget, supporting events, and supporting the efforts in place to recruit strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. He is dedicated to continuing work that creates pathways that empower non-traditional and transfer students to achieve their educational and career goals.

Jennifer Ross

Jennifer Ross served in the United States Air Force as an Intelligence Specialist and retired in 2023. She spent the majority of her career providing strategic guidance and support to Department of Defense leadership in various roles around the globe. Since retirement, Jennifer has dedicated her time to support veteran organizations and nonprofits including Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), American Corporate Partners (ACP), and serves as the Vice President of Strategy for The New York Brigade, a student veteran-focused nonprofit. Jennifer has a Bachelor’s degree in Intelligence Studies from American Public University, a Master’s in Organizational Leadership from UMass Global, and is currently enrolled at Cornell University, S.C. Johnson School of Business pursuing her MBA.

Thomas Morra

Thomas Morra is an educator who conducts research on learning choices and the use of emerging technologies to enhance the learning environment. Thom teaches online courses at both CUA and NVCC in Annandale, Virginia. He also has published a textbook on Intercultural Communication along with various articles on learning choices theory. Thom consults on textbooks for various publishers of learning theory and communications courses and speaks at conferences and workshop on online learning and technology in the classroom. Finally, Thom is also an organic farmer working with his family in Winchester VA raising pastured poultry for eggs and meat, grass fed beef, pastured pork and brick oven breads and pizzas.
